FROM RESCUE TO YOU

HOW IT WORKS

STEP 1: RESCUE
Picture
We all have one goal: to help save dogs from a life any lesser than what they deserve. Our rescue partners work around the clock saving dogs from euthanasia in overcrowded shelters, life on the streets, or helping owners who find themselves needing to surrender their dog.

Once our rescue partners take a pet in, they are placed either with a foster  home or within a facility where they are safe and cared for -- without the risk of euthanasia.

Pets are put through a behavior assessment and have all their vetting managed.
Once a pet is cleared, they are either placed up for “Direct Adoption” or “Transferred” to a rescue or shelter in the north -- PNW or Northeast.

STEP 2: ADOPTION PROCESS
There are 2 ways to adopt a PFR dog: Direct Adoption or Adopt a Transfer

DIRECT ADOPTION
  1. Visit our Available for Direct Adoption photo album on Facebook.
  2. If you see a dog you’re interested in,  email the Texas rescue organization directly (their contact info is listed in each photo's caption).
  3. Complete an application with that rescue.
  4. Go through a series of reference checks and a Facetime or Skype interview.
  5. Once finalized, PFR will arrange for the transportation of your new companion to your part of the country (some travel on your part may be required to meet the transport).

ADOPT A TRANSFER PET
  1. Keep an eye out for pets to be transferred to our receiving partner rescue organizations in the north. Dogs transferred to northern rescues will be posted on our Facebook page prior to transport. The receiving rescue will be noted in the dog's photo caption so you are able to contact them directly for more details.
  2. Follow that rescue organization's adoption process (this may vary from rescue to rescue).

STEP 3: TRANSPORT
Picture
Transports are typically arranged twice a month. We usually transport 20-35 dogs per trip. We keep everyone involved and updated during the entire transport process -- from 5-7 days before transport departure through transport until they have arrived to you!

For direct adopters, transport pick up location, date and approximate time are arranged ahead of time.

Transports are 100% donation driven.
